A church-oriented Christian After-school Ministry Program has special concerns for the spiritual growth of the children it serves. Its faculty is, or should be, positively Christian. Its curriculum provides opportunities for worship and other experiences that help broaden a child's religious and spiritual concepts. Our C.A.M.P. integrates the objectives of good school education with the spiritual objectives of Christian education, to make possible experiences that:
Promote Spiritual Growth by...
Promote Intellectual Growth by...
- Helping each child grow in knowledge of appreciation for God, Jesus, and the Bible.
- Helping each child develop happy and wholesome feelings toward the church and its people.
- Helping each child believe he or she is a person of worth.
- Laying the foundation for later religious commitment when the child reaches accountability.
Promote Social Growth by...
- Providing each child a base for interpreting and understanding his or her continuous encounters with the social and physical world.
- Whetting each child's curiosity about him/herself and and his/her world.
- Encouraging each child to think for him/herself, to solve porblems, to follow suggestions, and to carry out planned procedures to the best of his/her ability and at his/her own speed.
- Helping each child to cultivate attitudes, habits, and appreciations that will enable him/her to live happily in his/her environment.
Promote Physical Growth by...
- Helping each child develop abilities to have satisfying experiences in working and playing with others of his/her own age as well as associating with adults.
- Guiding each child's growth in ability to cope with individual and group problems.
- Helping each child to respect the rights, ideas, and property of others.
- Helping each child become a more friendly, likeable, thoughtful, and helpful person.
Promote Emotional Growth by...
- Helping each child achieve good muscular and eye-hand coordination.
- Guiding each child to establish desirable health and safety habits.
- Helping each child grow in understanding of, and appreciation for, his/her body, its resources, and its limitations.
- Helping each child mature and express emotional responses in acceptable ways, and face and oversome emotional problems.
- Guiding each child in awareness of his/her unique creative potential.
- Assisting each child in building self-confidence.
- Stimulating each child to be responsive to the beauty all around us.

- An afternoon snack will be provided every day.

- All children will have opportunities for homework, recreation, Bible stories, snacks, arts and crafts, computer use, constructive time, quiet time, and occasional excursions during full days.
- Please do not allow your child to bring candy or toys to C.A.M.P. until special times permit such items.
- Any child who is showing signs of illness that may affect the safe operation of C.A.M.P. will be temporarily isolated from other children until pick-up is made.
- If a child requires prescribed medication, please label it with the child's name, the dosage and time at which it is taken, and other relevant information. Please sign a note allowing C.A.M.P. to administer the medication.
- Children will be permitted to play outside on the playground daily, with the exception of inclement weather. If you do not wish for your child to participate in certain activities sponsored by C.A.M.P., please give the administrator a signed note to that effect.
- Children must wear shoes at all times at C.A.M.P., with the exception of certain indoor activities.

Financial Policies
Enrollment Fees
A $30.00 annual enrollment fee is charged each time you enroll your child. This fee should be paid every January or when the child begins during the year.Payment Policy
All payments should be made the week of service rendered, unless otherwise arranged with the C.A.M.P. Administrator. However, the C.A.M.P. parent must initiate discussion about the change in arrangements. Unless an arrangement has been made, then every parent must pay the week of when service is rendered.Late or Non-Payment Policy
- Checks should be made payable to: WBC CAMP. Returned checks will be charged $5.00 regardless of the reason. Cash only will be accepted if two checks are returned.
- An extra $8.00 per child per day will be charged for full C.A.M.P. days when children are out of school. If children are out of school for three or more consecutive full days during the week, the charges will be based on summer rates.
- C.A.M.P. will be closed for major holidays. Full rates will apply for those weeks. For example: If C.A.M.P. is only open for four days in a week, then the five-day rate will still apply.
- C.A.M.P. will follow New Hanover County's inclement weather policy. If inclement weather jeopardizes children's safety, C.A.M.P. will close immediately. If New Hanover County Schools are released early due to an emergency other than inclement weather, we will pick up the children at the early release time and bring them back to C.A.M.P. as usual. The extra $8.00 fee will be added to the weekly rate in those cases.
Unless payment has been made and approved in a written form with the C.A.M.P. Administrator, each parent is expected to pay on a weekly basis. If the payment is late there must be a valid and approved reason. If a parent misses two weeks of payments without communication with the Administrator, then the parent will be communicated with and a warning will be established in written form. There should be only two such warnings in a year, after which time the child will be dismissed from the program. If payment or an arrangement is not made, then there will be legal consequences. Delinquent accounts will be sent to the New Hanover County magistrate. Unpaid checks will be sent to the District Attorney's collection service.Transportation Fee
In the event that a parent has not communicated with C.A.M.P. personnel about changes to a child's daily schedule or pick-up arrangements, the Director will assess a $5.00 fee to the parent's normal weekly rate. This fee covers time and gas lost due to non-cummunication. Parents should not assume C.A.M.P. staff knows who or not to pick up.Late Pick-Up Fee
Please be prompt in picking up your child. There will be a LATE CHARGE of $3.00 for each 10 minutes per child after 6:00 p.m. Warnings will be given on the first two instances, and the late pick-up fee will be charge with the beginning of the third.Absenteeism
There will be a three-day minimum rate charged regardless of days attended or missed.Discipline and BehaviorPraise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of behavior management of children. When children receive positive, non-violent, and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concepts, problem-solving abilities and self-discipline. Based on this belief of how children learn and develop values, this center will practice the following discipline and behavior management policy:
WE DO...
WE DO NOT...
- Praise, reward, and encourage the children.
- Reason with and set limits for the children.
- Model appropriate behavior for the children.
- Modify the classroom environment to attempt to prevent problems before they occur.
- Listen to the children.
- Provide alternatives for inappropriate behavior to the children.
- Provide the children with natural and logical consequences of their behavior.
- Treat the children as people and respect their needs, desires, and feelings.
- Explain things to the children at their levels.
- Use short supervised periods of "time away."
- Stay consistent in our behavior management program.
Time Away is the removal of a child for a short period of time from a situation in which the child is misbehaving and has not responded to other discipline techniques. The "time away" space/chair is located away from classroom activity but within the teacher's sight. During "time away," the child has a chance to think about the misbehavior which led to his/her removal from the group. After a brief interval, the teacher discusses the incident and the appropriate behavior with the child. When the child returns to the group, the incident is over and the child is treated with the same affection and respect shown to other children.
- Spank, shake, bite, pinch, push, pull, slap, or otherwise physically punish the children.
- Make fun of, yell at, threaten, make sarcastic remarks about, use profanity, or otherwise verbally abuse the children.
- Shame or punish the children when bathroom accidents occur.
- Deny food or rest as punishment.
- Relate discipline to eating, resting, or sleeping.
- Leave the children alone, unattended, or without supervision.
- Place the children in locked rooms or closets as punishment.
- Criticize, make fun of, or otherwise belittle children's parents, families, or ethnic group.
- Ignore minor or major misbehavior
